Shield Plus Escalator Funds
Shield Plus 90 Escalator
- Performance: The Shield Plus 90 Escalator fund has achieved a cumulative net total return of 38.36% from January 1, 2004 to Decemer 31, 2008; that means, a $1 million investment has grown to $1.4 million over the past 5 years. Updated performance can be requested by accredited investors by contacting Shield Plus.
- Protection: The Shield Plus 90 Escalator fund safeguards 90% of your investment each year. Further, 50% of the quarterly gains are locked-in by re-investing proceeds into safe-haven, income producing securities—this reinvestment discipline takes advantage of “compounding” returns and escalates the floor.
- Expert Fund Management: Shield Plus' Portfolio Management Team works with conservative investors, such as foundations, endowments, corporate Rabbi Trusts, family offices and other organizations, who are frustrated by low investment yields and potential market risk. The Shield Plus 90 Escalator Fund is tailored to offer a market-neutral return that is non-correlated to traditional stock and bond portfolios. Uniquely, the Escalator has a "quarterly capture" in which half of the positive performance and a high percentage of principal (e.g. 90%) is locked in and protected by a “floor.” This floor adjusts up every time there is a capture of gains. This stepping up of the floor (i.e. protection and compounding of investment growth) is the “escalator” effect. To enhance the likelihood of capital appreciation, the strategy’s market-neutral investment approach pursues fully-covered option positions in the most volatile energy, raw material and inflation-related markets (such as crude oil, natural gas, gasoline, ethanol and other renewable energy sources, gold, corn, etc.).
“Go Green” Escalator
- Performance: The “Go Green” Escalator Fund is being launched in 2009. Accredited investors may request additional fund information from Shield Plus. If you would like to learn more about our “Go Green” Escalator Fund, contact us.
- Protection: The “Go Green” Escalator safeguards 70% of your investment each year. Further, 50% of the quarterly gains are locked-in by re-investing proceeds into safe-haven, income producing securities—this reinvestment discipline takes advantage of “compounding” returns and escalates the floor.
- Socially Responsible Investment Management: Shield Plus works with conservative investors, such as foundations, endowments, corporate Rabbi Trusts and family offices, who are frustrated by low investment yields and potential market risk. The “Go Green” Escalator is a market-neutral tailored portfolio of fully-covered options on socially-responsible, green-investing companies seeking to improve the world’s climate. The “Go Green” Escalator is potentially non-correlated to traditional assets because the market-neutral approach creates a non-linear return pattern. Uniquely, the "Go Green" Escalator has a "quarterly capture" in which half of the positive performance and a high percentage of principal (e.g. 70%) is locked in and protected by a “floor”. This floor adjusts up every time there is a capture of gains. This stepping up of the floor (i.e. protection and compounding of investment growth) is the “escalator” effect.
To enhance the likelihood of capital appreciation, the “Go Green” Escalator uses Shield Plus’ proprietary market-neutral investment approach and places a strong emphasis on being net long volatility. Fully-covered option positions are quantitatively selected on companies providing or belonging to one of the following:
- U.S. Climate Action Partnership,
- Renewable energy including wind, solar, bio-fuel, etc.,
- Raw material and technology such as lithium, hydrogen, fuel cell and other components and engineering for rechargeable batteries and motors run by electricity or renewable, environment friendly fuels,
- Electric car and other environmentally sensitive transportation manufacturers, and
- Socially responsible and financial companies making “green” investments and loans.
Companies being considered as holdings in the “Go Green” Escalator must pursue the following principles of the U.S. Climate Action Partnership:
- Account for the global dimensions of climate change;
- Create incentives for technology innovation;
- Be environmentally effective;
- Create economic opportunity and advantage;
